Congratulations! You’ve got great instincts!
- Soma Rug $13,585 from Candelabra
- Sofia Rug $440 from Rug Studio
What’s the big difference?
It’s all about the material. The splurge rug is a silk blend, while the save option is polypropylene (great for high traffic areas and can be used as an indoor/outdoor rug too!). Silk rugs are the most expensive rug you can buy, and while they will feel amazing to walk on, they will not feel as great on your bank account. Polypropylene rugs are great on your bank account, but it doesn’t really feel that great on your bare feet. I recommend using polypropylene rugs in areas will you won’t don’t need a soft plush feeling like in entryways, dining rooms, kitchens and patios, and use silk rugs in bedrooms and living rooms (if you can afford it, don’t have young kids running around)
What to look for when buying a rug
It’s not always best to go for the least expensive, but you don’t necessarily need to spend a lot either. Here’s a little chart I’ve put together for you to make the shopping experience a little easier.
