A friend of mine and I have been working on a little side project that will become a new extension of Homegrown. We are refurbishing and updating vintage furniture, which has been (and continues to be) a learning process. The whole endeavor, while challenging, has been really fun… except for all of the self induced scrapes and bruises. I’m a pretty big klutz, I’ll admit it! Take a note from me, point sharp things away from you! I digress…
I’ve been hunting for unique fabrics to use for our projects, and the only fun designs I could find were online. This is an issue for two reasons. 1: I like to see and touch what I am about to buy. The scale, thickness and quality can be completely different than what you were expecting when you order stuff online. And 2: I am a big fan of instant gratification. You can always order a swatch online before ordering the full amount, but that really goes against my need to have it now. I’m part of the generation now, what can I say!
So, after leaving a fabric store today a little depressed over not finding anything I like, I drove past a brand new fabric store called Sew Modern. I almost hit a car trying to change lanes to park. I could tell from the window that it was exactly the type of store I was looking for, very modern and fun, and very affordable. I love to promote businesses when I can, and this is one that could not go unrecognized. Thank you, Sew Modern, for opening up a store in my neighborhood!
As for our little project, I will hopefully be able to post some pictures soon. We are still in the middle of stripping and sanding our pieces, but here are some pictures of the store so that you can see how cute it really is!
