My boyfriend and I talk a lot about moving to the mountains. He is an avid skiier, and I would love a change of scenery for a while. Plus, the idea of becoming as good of a skier (or almost as good) as he is makes it even more tempting. My mind, of course, first travels to where we would live. I love light and airy, modern, and clean which is not your typical cabin. There will be no bear heads (unless made out of porcelain) hanging above my fireplace, and I will tear down any plaid drapery or quilts I see (especially when that quilt has been hung on the wall as someone’s not so great idea of art) as soon as I see it. An updated cabin is my idea of bliss! The Hillside House in Mill Valley, CA would be my dream inspiration. It was built by architect Scott Lee and is LEED-H platinum (one of only a few in California). Not only is it sustainable, but it is beautiful.
