As an eDecorator, I firmly believe in the importance of having a home that you love. This is why I have been shaken to the core watching the Syrian crisis. I can’t begin to understand what it must be like to risk everything to give your family the possibility of a better and safer life. I drew the lucky card in life for being born in America to a nurturing family in a safe neighborhood. These families are fighting for their life and freedom only because of where they were born. 75% of those fleeing Syria are women and children, and as a mom, I can’t just sit here and do nothing. So, I have decided to donate 20% of all of my design packages and design consultations to ShelterBox USA. I wish I could do more, but for now, it’s a start.
I have chosen ShelterBox USA because of its upstanding reputation, its commitment to helping those most in need, and their mission of giving those people what they need most, shelter. Here are a few statistics about them:
- Their aid is tailored to a disaster but typically includes a disaster relief tent for a family, thermal blankets and groundsheets, water storage and purification equipment, solar lamps, cooking utensils, a basic tool kit, mosquito nets and children’s activity pack.
- They have a 4 out of 4 star rating on Charity Navigator, which rates how they use their money, their transparency, and their accountability.
- They have been working on the Syrian crisis since 2012
- Finally, while you can find their aid all over the world, you can also donate specifically to the Syrian crisis here.
